PURPOSE

The purpose of the department is to promote sustainable diversified crop production and development through dissemination of sustainable and appropriate crop production and processing technologies along the value chain, provision of crop production services such as crop protection, field crop production, horticultural crop production, agriculture mechanization, farm input and seed availability. It provides crop production technical services to enhance the effective diffusion of technologies released by the Agricultural Technology Clearing Committee (ATCC).

Functions of the Department of Crop Development

1. Provision of Crop Protection Services.
2. Provision of horticultural crop production and development services.
3. Provision of field crop production and development services.
4. Provision of Agriculture Mechanisation Services.
5. Provision of improved farm inputs services (fertiliser, seed and chemicals).
6. Provision of crop production estimates services.
